Traveling looks a little different than it used to, if you can even remember what traveling looks like. In efforts to make flying as safe as possible, the Charleston International Airport and related entities have created new rules and regulations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s a rundown of what to expect and how to prepare for air travel.
Some tips before you leave for the airport 🧳
○ Valet services and the shuttle to/from downtown are currently not operating, so plan accordingly when considering getting to and from the airport.
○ Lyft and Uber are requiring both drivers and passengers to wear masks. To save some time, have your mask on prior to your driver’s arrival.
○ Pack a set of tissues in case you need to sneeze or cough and an alcohol-based hand sanitizer in case you’re in a position where you can’t readily access soap and water.
While at the airport ✈️
○ Limited concessions are open during this time, with some operating under reduced hours. Check here for a list of stores + spots to get food that remain open.
○ The Guest Services Desk will be open from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. seven days a week.
○ Stay six feet apart from others when possible and frequently wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.
While flying 🛫
○ Most airlines are requiring passengers to wear masks while boarding, in-flight, and during deplaning. Check with your airline to stay up to date with their policies.
○ Many in-flight food and drink services have been altered. Consider grabbing a snack + drink in the airport before boarding. Check here to see what your airline offers at this time.
