Happy National Cheeseburger Day, Charleston. Being the die-hard burger lover that I am, I get to celebrate the wonderful food group that is cheeseburgers every day. But today, the entire nation gets to celebrate with me.

Given that our city is a restaurant + foodie hub, good burgers aren’t hard to come by. The best part about living in an area so heavily focused on food is that you can find a restaurant that not only offers the food that you’re looking for, but one that suits any mood you’re in + any atmosphere you’re feeling.

Deciding on a burger joint is nothing short of a daunting task. So friends, I’m here to give you a roundup of just a few of the best burgers in the Charleston area.

Poe’s Tavern | 2210 Middle St., Sullivan’s Island

Named after poet Edgar Allen Poe, this dive is full of small quirks referencing Poe. Names of burgers after his stories such as “The Tell Tale Heart” + “The Gold Bug” can be found on the menu, sparking your interest + not falling short with their rich + juicy taste.

Come for the insanely good burgers, fun atmosphere + beach scenery, leave with a new history lesson on Edgar Allen Poe.

Sesame Burgers and Beer | 675 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Mt. Pleasant + 4726 Spruill Ave., N. Charleston

If you saw my article earlier in the summer, you’ll remember that I briefly mentioned Sesame Burgers + Beer as a must-visit stop. I’m here to remind you of this hub of deliciousness.

Honestly, they had me at the combo of burgers + beer, but they really won me over with their commitment to providing healthy, South Carolina based ingredients.

🍔 Elévé Rooftop Restaurant + Lounge | 55 Wentworth St.

Elévé is your one-stop-shop for food, drinks + atmosphere. Situated on top of the Grand Bohemian hotel, Elévé offers some of the best views in all of downtown Charleston. To top it off, the drinks are stellar + the food is even better. Add some good company into the mix and you won’t want to leave. Trust me, pencil in Elévé to your Friday night dinner plans.

🍔 Rutledge Cab Co. | 1300 Rutledge Ave

Earning an award for the best burger in Charleston in 2017 by the Charleston Living Magazine’s Readers Choice Awards, Rutledge Cab Co. boasts a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere with a large covered patio + Neighborhood Appreciation Night offering 20% off.

🍔 Halls Chophouse | 434 King St.

Whether you’re in Greenville, Columbia or Charleston, you’ve probably either been to or heard of the infamous Halls Chophouse. Serving a mix of fresh seafood, signature steaks, chops + more, if you’re not in the mood for one of their signature steaks, order one of their juicy, fresh burgers + pair it with some parmesan-truffle fries. Can you say food coma? I’m in.
