And the Carolopolis Award goes to... 🏆

Take a look at the 69th Carolopolis Award winners

The Preservation Society of Charleston awarded its first Carolopolis in 1953 to celebrate excellence in historic preservation, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Fifteen winning projects have been selected for the 69th Carolopolis Awards. Before we dive in, lets outline the awards.
  • Pro Merito Award: Recognizes properties that obtained a Carolopolis 20+ years ago and have sustained the restoration or have undergone a second (significant) exterior renovation.
  • Interior Award: Recognizes interior preservation of historic public buildings like churches and cultural centers.
  • Exterior Award: Recognizes outstanding preservation, rehabilitation, or restoration.
  • New Construction Award: Recognizes creative design solutions for residential, commercial, and mixed-use infill buildings.
  • Resilience Award: This inaugural award recognizes projects that have adjusted historic properties to climate conditions while complying with historic preservation best practices.
