Happy Thanksgiving, CHS. 🦃

Today, we’re taking some time to reflect on all of the things we have to be thankful for. You, our readers, are at the top of our list. We’re grateful for the chance to wake up every day + talk about this wonderful city with you.

Last week, we asked what about our city you’re thankful for this year. To celebrate Turkey Day, we wanted to share some of your answers.

This year, in 2020, I’m particularly thankful for the healthcare workers who have struggled during this pandemic to care for us and advise us. I am also thankful to our police and fire departments and other first responders, who keep us safe and protect us. I am thankful to all of our City of Charleston employees, who have worked safely to continue all our services to the citizens of Charleston, who I am thankful for as well. Blessings to all!” — Mayor Tecklenburg

“Lowcountry Blessing Boxes.” — Gretchen D.

“I’m super thankful that you shared the post from Dorchester paws! We’re now fostering the sweetest dog. She was shaking and stressed at the shelter and is loving her new temporary home. We hit the foster jackpot with her... she’s laid back and well behaved. I hope more people foster and adopt... there were lots of sweet animals needing homes.” — Erin M.

“Having beautiful surroundings to enjoy socially-distanced walks and picnics.” — Becca H.

“The delicious comfort of Jack of Cups’ food. Even when Folly was closed during lockdown, JoC still managed to serve regulars via Paddock and Whiskey’s kitchen on James Island. They worked so hard to make sure their fans outside of Folly stayed connected to them. They’re just the best!” — Kelly S.

“I am thankful that 2 of my 3 children live here, so we can socially distance periodically. I am also thankful for being able to virtually visit with my 3rd child and her family!” — Nancy O.

“Super thankful for the community’s support of my business, The Tiny Tassel – opening our new retail shop very soon!!” — Mimi S.

“LSG, the Lowcountry Street Grocery, for not only delivering good local produce but also doing donations to families in need.” — John G.

“With cancelled galas and fundraisers abundant, I am thankful for the Charleston community coming together to still support the causes that mean the most to them during these uncertain times! Be A Mentor, that relies on the annual 250-person gala to fundraise for their school based mentorship programs, held a virtual event that raised an amount comparable to the in-person soiree! I’m so proud of our community virtually gathering to empower our youth so that they come out on the other end of this pandemic not as lost, as empowered!” — Alex M.

Thank you for starting your day with us + Happy Thanksgiving. 🦃
