In case you missed it, a new, all-inclusive playground is coming to Saul Alexander Park after the Summerville town council recently approved an allotment of $150,000 to go towards its construction.
The equipment will allow children of all skill levels + needs to play together. So, what does this mean?
In an effort to include children with developmental, sensory impaired + physical disabilities, the park would include ramps — for those using wheelchairs or mobility devices and smooth, even flooring.
Other equipment that could possibly be included in the park are inclusive slides — where children can access the slide from ground level, sensory activities , ground-level activities that don’t require kids to move up or down various heights + inclusive swings .
Construction is expected to be completed by this fall.
