The Charleston food scene is shaking things up. Konnichiwa, a Japanese restaurant, may take over a spot in the St. Andrews Center off of Savannah Highway. Speaking of new digs, restaurant + tequila bar The Matador plans to open at the former Sticky Fingers location on Meeting Street. 🍴 (The Post and Courier)
There’s a new fish + chips shop headed to town. Set to open its doors on Thurs., Sept. 8, The Fish & Chippy will serve authentic fish and chips, local beer, and specialty items like Lowcountry-inspired pimento cheese grit fritters. It’s never too early to start thinking about the 50th Summerville Flowertown Festival. Summerville Family YMCA has announced the dates for the 2023 celebration, which will run from Fri., March 31 to Sun., April 2. Charleston Southern University’s incoming class is its largest in the last six years. With more than 1,000 new Bucs joining the student body, enrollment is up 5% since last year. To accommodate the new students, the nearby Wingate Hotel has been converted to on-campus housing. 🎓 (WCBD)

Pre-applications are now open for the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism’s Undiscovered South Carolina grant program — working to develop tourismin smaller parts of the state. CARTA board members + Bosch representatives have unveiled a new bus shelter located near Bosch’s local plant on Dorchester Road. The project was jointly funded by CARTA and Bosch to increase the safety and accessibility of the bus service for both Bosch employees and nearby residents.
Check out the new shelter, which includes a bench, bike rails, and a paved path to the plant.
