The development, located at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, is set to generate capital for Patriots Point and is said to be the “most important initiative at Patriots Point in its history.”

Here’s a look at the proposed master plans.

Project timeline
A portion of the proposed development is expected to be built where the museum’s600-spaceparkinglot currently sits, so a new parking area is in order. After thenew parking areais developed, construction plans for the first building will be submitted.
Initial construction may begin in fall 2023, which could include five project phases.
Local impact
The development is expected to bring various new businesses, millions of dollars of revenue, and create hundreds of jobs in the area.

Development
Long-term expansion plans have been released for the Charleston International Airport over the next 20 years, set to add11 gates to the airport. Phase one includes a 7,000-car parkinggarage + a new concourse with five additional gates, and phase two features an expansion of the food hall and another new concourse. Mark your calendars: YALLFest young adult book festival is headed to the Holy City on Fri., Nov. 11 + Sat., Nov. 12, featuring 77 young adult authors, booksignings, and paneldiscussions. Closing
Speaking of books, the temporary Cooper River Memorial Library branch of the Charleston County Public Library is expected to close next month as part of the next phase of developmentfor the Keith Summey North Charleston Library. You might’ve missed our story on the 38th annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival, so we’ll give you a quick breakdown ofwhat you need to know about the world’s largest oyster festival held right here in our backyard.
The event features 60,000poundsofoysters, including raw oyster eating + shucking contests.
Gates open at 10 a.m. + the event runsuntil5 p.m.
Wine, domestic, andimportedbeer are available for purchase to pair with your buckets of steamed oysters.
General admission tickets are $23, though you’ll need to purchase food + beverage tickets separately. VIP tickets are also available for $179. Snag ‘em while you can.
