Get ready for 45,000 pounds of oysters. The39th annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival is right around the corner so we’re giving you the lowdown on the world’s largest oyster fest.
The “rain or shine” event — hosted by the Charleston Restaurant Foundation — will be held on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Boone Hall Plantation, located at 1235 Long Point Rd. in Mt. Pleasant. General parking will be free.
There will be buckets of oysters, live music on the main stage, rawoyster shucking and eating contests, wine and beer, and a food court featuring local eateries.
Food and beverage tickets will be available for purchase at the festival. You can also buy oyster knives + gloves at the event. Pets, coolers, and outside food and beverages are not permitted.

A broadcast studio is in the works on Broad Street. The building at 61 Broad St., which was purchased earlier this year for $1.72 million, is set to be converted into a TV broadcast studio hub. The two-story building at 309 King St., the former location of Mellow Mushroom, was purchased by real estate investment firm Redline Property Partners for $4 million. A retail shop is coming soon to the ~5,000-sqft space. (The Post and Courier)
