Lexa here. 👋 After living in Charleston for (just about) my entire life, I’ve come to find that there are a few unwritten rules that Charlestonians like to follow — things that aren’t quiteofficial Holy City “code,” but more so things that residents justknow. Here are a few examples from our readers:
“Don’t feed the seagulls!” – @holycityglass
“Keep an eye out for the one-way streets” – @charleston_food_spot
“When merging on to 17 N. from Coming St. downtown, KEEP moving! Change lanes LATER!” – @eruss28
This leads me to believe that this can’t be the only unspoken trend in the area. I want to hear from y’all: What are the Holy City’s unofficial landmarks? I’m talking about the things that you might not see on the postcards but just feel like home.
I’ll start: The first thing that came to mind is the Coburg Cow. If you know, you know, but if you don’t know, read up on itshistory.
Editor’s pick: Speaking of the Cooper River Bridge Run, Taco Boy is set to host a Bridge Run After Party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its downtown location (217 Huger St.), featuring a photobooth, drinkspecials, and music from DJ Discreet. Know of any other post-race celebrations? Share ‘em with us. 🎉
