Development
The Town of Mount Pleasant hopes to bring a dog park, basketball courts, a splash pad, a first responder memorial, and green space to Memorial Waterfront Park. This $5.5+ million expansion is expected to begin next month and be completed next summer. (WCSC)
Civic
Mayor Haynie will declare Mount Pleasant as a “Pinwheel City” this month. The pinwheel is a national symbol of child abuse prevention. Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center will be planting pinwheel gardens across the Lowcountry in April.
Festival
This year’s North Charleston Arts Fest is slated for Wednesday, May 3-Sunday, May 7 and admission is free. Look forward to concerts, dance performances, art demonstrations, kids programs, exhibitions, and an art block party.
Eat
Mex 1 Coastal Cantina is launching a new menu tomorrow, April 6. Bring your appetite for new options like the ranchero chicken taco, Mexicali burrito, and pineapple coco margarita. The eatery has three locations in West Ashley, Sullivan’s Island, and Mount Pleasant.

The Avian Conservation Center and Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw is offering new owl-centric programming and extending visiting hours for a limited time this spring. Check out the guided tour of the Owl Wood Courtyard and “Owls in Flight” experience.
