Ready or not, Memorial Day Weekend is coming up from Friday, May 26-Monday, May 29. The weather’s warming up, the waves are crashing, and the sand from last season’s beach trip is everywhere.
Before grabbing your Yeti, leashing up Buddy + packing your Shibumi’s, scroll down for the lowdown on our Lowcountry beach rules broken down beach by beach.
Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., May through September. They must be leashed at all other times. Dogs are never allowed on the pier.
No glass or plastic bags allowed on the beach.
Lifeguards are on duty May through Labor Day.
When parking on the street, don’t block driveways or crosswalks and make sure all four tires are off the road. Read all parking rules.

Bites and sips at Bar Vauté

CHStoday stopped by Bar Vauté, Charleston’s only below-street-level bar for the newly-launched Apéro Hour, a French tradition. This softly-lit small cocktail bar, below Brasserie la Banque, is now serving bites + sips from a special menu.
We ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell along with the French 75 and Lillet Spritz cocktails, which were refreshing and floral. Drop by Monday through Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. to try it out.
Hey, it’s Tate. Did anyone else get caught in Tuesday’s sudden downpour? My friend and I were minding our own business on the patio at Blind Tiger when the perfect storm arrived.
I ran with my to-go box (over my dead body was I leaving that buratta salad behind) and ran clumsily down Broad Street with my shoes in my other hand. I made it to the car just in time. Do you have a storm story in Charleston? Share it.
