IOP is calling, and the Beach Reach can get you there. Operated by CARTA in partnership with Mount Pleasant and Isle of Palms, this free, seasonal shuttle is back for its third season starting this weekend.
Beach Reach riders park for free at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre, then board the shuttle at stop No. 715 on Market Center Blvd.
Ride the shuttle (which has air conditioning, wi-fi, and bike racks) and get dropped off at 14th Ave. and Ocean Blvd.
Enjoy a day at IOP and ride back when you’re done.
Here’s when locals can catch the Beach Reach this summer:
Saturdays and Sundays from May 27-Sept. 4
Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day included
Saturdays: Shuttle runs every hour from 9:15 a.m. (first departure from Towne Centre) to 5:30 p.m. (final departure from Isle of Palms).
Sundays: Shuttle runs every hour from 9:40 a.m.-5:55 p.m.
Full route details and bus tracking can be found in the Transit App, available for download via Apple and Google Play. Riders can also view traffic conditions and municipal information for all area beaches with the Beach Reach app (on Apple + Google Play).

A new 5,000-sqft gaming facility is coming to West Ashley. Game Haus is slated to open adjacent to Ireland’s Own/Jagerhaus Pub on Thursday, June 1. Look forward to games including motorsport racing, shuffleboard, and pinball.
Chocolate or vanilla? A new Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers is expected to open at US Highway 17A + Carnes Crossing Boulevard in Goose Creek. Save room for burgers, hot dogs, shoestring fries, and frozen custard. (The Post and Courier)

Patriots Annex, a mixed-use development incorporating Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, is on schedule following its groundbreaking last fall. The museum’s new visitor parking lot is slated to be completed in October. (The Post and Courier)

On Thursday, June 1, head to the corner of King + Ann streets for a free family-friendly art event that’s open to the public. Piccolo on King will take place from 6-9 p.m. and feature live music, outdoor dining, vendors, and performance art.

With beautiful summer days ahead of us, here’s a guide to the Gold Pass at Charleston County Parks. A Gold Pass buys you unlimited admission to numerous parks, recreational centers, and special events.
Here’s how it works:
Purchase a Gold Pass online and present it to be scanned for admission.
Passes are good for a year after the date of purchase.
Passes are per car and allow up to 15 people in your vehicle.
Get unlimited visits to ~15 parks and recreational centers including James Island County Park and Folly Beach County Park.
Attend events like the Reggae Nights Summer Concert Series for free.
Access special park and program discounts in a monthly email.
