All work and no play? That’s not the case. There are many benefits to getting away from your work setting and enjoying team-building activities, including improving communications, identifying leaders, and inspiring collaboration.
We heard from a curious reader interested in team-building activities for companies + businesses in Charleston, and after some digging, we found seven that fit the bill.
Coworkers can face off in an epic game show experience against an opposing team. There are various challenges and mini-games to see which team will come out the champions.

North Charleston officials shared aerial footage of the new Park Circle redevelopment project. The project includes a new cultural arts center, a recreation facility, an all-inclusive baseball field, an accessible playground, and a new walking path. The plan is to open later this year. (WCIV)
Pets
With support from the community, Dorchester Paws found all of its 180 animals an emergency foster home during Hurricane Idalia, of which 21 of those pets have been adopted. Check out more adoptable animals. (WCSC)
Plan Ahead
The Local Palate will host its seventh annual Whiskey After Dark on Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Cedar Room in downtown Charleston. This event includes 100 whiskey samples, seltzers + craft beers, and various barbecue styles from award-winning pit masters. Tickets range from $80-$100.

Artists: apply to showcase your work
Park Circle Gallery in North Charleston invites artists to exhibit

Park Circle Gallery, at 4820 Jenkins Ave., invites established + emerging professional visual artists to apply individually or with a group to be featured in its gallery.
The gallery aims to showcase artwork from local + regional artists of various subjects and media. The city of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department manages the exhibitions, which rotate monthly and may feature two or more artists simultaneously.
Artists must be at least 18 years old and can submit proposals online for free by Thursday, Nov. 30. A review panel will only consider original two-dimensional or three-dimensional pieces. The group will meet in December to select exhibits for July 2024 through June 2025.
