Last week, several local business leaders + elected officials attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for downtown’s newest learning center at 997 Morrison Dr.
It’s a part of Charleston Digital Corridor (CDC), a community-sourced initiative to attract, nurture, and promote the region’s tech economy.
The CDC Learning Center will provide accessible training and skill development across the Lowcountry, particularly those in technology. There are also plans to focus on providing underserved communities with high-quality + inclusive education programs in a supportive learning environment.
The new learning center is located on the CDC’s Charleston Tech Center campus on Charleston’s upper peninsula.
Supported by Google, the project received $250,000 in funds from the tech giant. The mission of the CDC Learning Center aligns with Google’s work to “help upskill the regional workforce” and to “remove barriers to entry in the tech industry.”
The learning hub features 1,200 sqft in classroom space with advanced technology and will offer various programming. Think: basic digital literacy, AI, and cybersecurity training courses.
Classes started last week with a “Intro to AI” class. To stay updated or register for a class, check out Charleston Digital Corridor’s website or follow along on Instagram.
