Last week, City Editor Erika previewed the new happenings at Élevé, the rooftop + lounge on top of the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston at 55 Wentworth St. The space has a new concept with a new chef and menu.

Mahdi Naim is now the Executive Chef with a background in leading fine dining kitchens in New York City, Hong Kong, and Amman. Born in Jordan, Chef Mahdi was drawn to Charleston by its “beautiful charm, rich culinary history, and friendly people.” He moved to the Holy City in 2022. City Editor Erika got the chance to meet the man behind the new dishes.

The smell of freshly baked bread, thyme, and olive oil was a constant in Chef Naim’s home growing up.

From the editor
I would love to shout out one of our engaged readers and share his recent experience dining at the new location of LoLA in Mt. Pleasant, which he shared with the CHStoday team.

Paul W. and his wife stopped by the Cajun eatery just in time for happy hour and enjoyed specials like the Hurricane cocktail, buffalo oysters, and duck fries. For entrees, they chose the fish tacos and the jambalaya with cornbread. He raved about the food and customer service.

Is your mouth watering like mine is? After the holidays, get your fix by stopping at 1036 Chuck Dawley Blvd.
