A new senior living community is part of a planned 9,000-acre mixed-use development, with Mount Pleasant-based The Berry Co. listed as the developer. Plans show a 450-unit facility on the north side of Clements Ferry Road (across from the Publix in Point Hope Commons). (The Post and Courier)
Opening
The Hub at Nexton celebrated its grand opening. The space is within walking distance of Brighton Park Village and offers retail, restaurant, and medical services to the Summerville community. The eight-acre space is located off Nexton Parkway near Interstate 26 and connects to the greater Nexton community by walking and biking trails. (CRBJ)
Coming Soon
My pleasure. Chick-fil-A is set to start serving guests at the Charleston International Airport on Tuesday, Dec. 5. This comes after contract extensions between the vendor and Charleston County Aviation Authority pushed things back. The chicken chain will be accessible to those on either side of the security checkpoint. (The Post and Courier)
Environment
Beach restoration efforts continue on IOP. Coastal Science & Engineering said 45,000 cubic yards of sand have been scraped, another 10,000 yards were trucked in, and 800 sandbags have been installed in the Breach Inlet area alone. City leaders say the Army Corps of Engineers will start a project that will bring in $10 million worth of sand early next year. (WCBD)
Community
Summerville unveiled its newly upgraded Huger Park located on West Richardson Avenue. More than $50,000 was raised for the project that replaced playground equipment, updated fencing, and added a rain garden. Leadership Dorchester Class of 2023 raised the money through fundraisers to transform the park. (WCSC)
Award
Charleston-native and award-winning artist Darius Rucker is leaving his mark on the music world. Rucker will receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Monday, Dec. 4 along Hollywood Boulevard. He will be receiving the star in the category of recording. (WCSC)
