New name, new venues, new events.The Charleston Festival (formerly known as the Festival of Houses & Gardens) is happening March 14-April 14.
The 2024 season features your favorite tours and events, but better than ever. Guests can also expect new events to enhance the experience. Enjoy:
Charleston by Design: This celebration of of preservation and design features Designer Vignettes at the Aiken-Rhett House Museum, the Design in Mind Lecture Series, and more on opening weekend (March 14-17).
Jill Hooper Exhibition: Charleston-based painter and draftsman Jill Hooper presents “Window into another World” at the Aiken-Rhett House Museum — plus exclusive painting and drafting workshops, and exhibit tours throughout the festival.
Tours and events: The festival continues to offer House & Garden Tours in addition to a month-long schedule of events like the Festival Music Series, Lecture Series, social events, and workshops.
The Charleston Digital Corridor will welcome Kognitos, a San Jose-headquartered AI company, to operate its east coast hub at the Charleston Tech Center. The company says it aims to build a future where machines understand human language natively. (Holy City Sinner)

Mount Pleasant + Nexton will soon get new pizza spots specializing in classic New York pies called Woodhaven Pizza. The opening dates are to be announced. Stay updated on Instagram.
Announced
Beginning this Saturday, Dec. 9, Middleton Place will begin Teacher Free Saturdays. Teachers can show their work credentials and receive general admission to the Middleton Place Gardens and Stableyards. This promo will run through the end of the year.

The CofC Athletics announced a new agreement with WCBD-TV. You can now catch six of its men’s basketball games that will be broadcast on WCBD 2.2 CW affiliate across the Charleston area. See the full schedule. (WCBD)

The Charleston Running Club announces its 39th annual Charleston Post Classic 15K and 5K

Presented by the Charleston Running Club, this event will honor Dr. Charlie Post, a Charleston runner, triathlete, and family physician. Dr. Post was the head of the College of Charleston’s student health services, served as the team’s sports physician, and is remembered as a volunteer in the running community.
The 15K run is $50, and the 5K run/walk is $40. Prices will increase on Monday, Jan. 1. The proceeds from the race help provide a scholarship in Dr. Post’s memory, awarded annually to a College of Charleston student-athlete.
Registration includes:
A chip-timed 15k run or 5K run/walk
A finisher’s medal
Long sleeve shirt
Refreshments
