5k Beer Run | Saturday, March 9 | 11 a.m.-1 p.m. | New Realm Brewing Co., 880 Island Park Dr., Charleston | $50 | Run, walk, crawl, or do what you have to do to cross the finish line so you can celebrate at the brewery.

Spring is just two weeks away — and so is this annual exhibition, fundraiser, and event-filled weekend at the Columbia Museum of Art.
If you haven’t already marked your calendar for this year’s Art Blossoms, it kicks off with an opening night party on Wednesday, March 20, followed by four dazzling days of botanical beauty and a stacked schedule of classes, guest speakers, tastings + tours, and more.
The Grit Counter’s Mount Pleasant location at 320 Wingo Way is closed for renovation and will become part of its next-door sister restaurant Grace & Grit. The Grit Counter’s North Charleston location (near the coliseum and convention center) is still open. (The Post and Courier)
Development
Under construction. A new community dubbed The Charles will offer townhomes and apartments at the corner of Broad and Barre streets in Harleston Village. The new community will provide residents views of the Ashley River and Safe Harbor City Marina, and feature a half-acre park. (Charleston Regional Business Journal)
Outdoors
Folly Beach County Park will be closed today so contractors can move tools and machinery to the area for the renourishment and stabilization project. The project will add sand to Folly Beach, dredge the Folly River, and take measures to reduce erosion on Bird Key. More closures may be required.
Announced
Bert Kreischer’s third annual Fully Loaded Comedy Festival will make a stop at The Joe this summer. Thursday, June 13, Kreischer, Mark Normand, Dave Attell, Big Jay Oakerson, and other comedians will take the center field. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, March 8 at 10 a.m.

Charleston Southern University has promoted interim head coach Saah Nimley as the basketball program’s 13th head coach. Nimley played for the Buccaneers from 2011 to 2015 and joined the staff during the summer of 2019 as an assistant coach. (WCIV)
