We know barbecue is all about the meats, but never sleep on the sides from Lewis Barbecue. | Photo by @abgoldberg
The bracket winner is… Lewis Barbecue, voted best BBQ in Charleston by our readers and social media followers in our BBQ bracket competition.
Lewis Barbecue opened in June of 2016 and has made the Lowcountry fall in love with its Texas barbecue since then. Don’t worry — we still have a special place in our hearts for South Carolina-style BBQ. Pitmaster John Lewis has been named one of the best in the country for his mastery of smoking meats. Lewis focuses on the details (like waking up at 4 a.m. to tend to the fire) and has even welded his custom smokers. Check out the spot located at 464 N. Nassau St.
We want to extend a major “thank you” to all of you for participating in our bracket challenge over the past few weeks. We’ve had a blast seeing how the votes shook out, and we hope you did too.
