CHStoday staff here. We’ve got a goal to raise $12,000 by the end of this week to support our staff and operations. Fun fact: We’ve turned down more than a million dollars in political ads since we first started. We’re that serious about our brand promise.

This election year, we promise to keep your morning news read unbiased, stress-free, and focused on the thing you care about: knowing what’s going on in our city. That means no political ads. Help support our approach to local journalism and give to our fundraising campaign today.

Want to get out of town this summer, but don’t want to travel too far? We’ve found what could be the perfect coastal escape on the southern end of Johns Island.

The Dunlin (6000 Kiawah River Dr., Johns Island) will open Thursday, Aug. 1. It sits on the Kiawah River, ~ 40 minutes outside Charleston near Kiawah and Seabrook Islands.

Fun fact: The resort is named after a local shorebird.

The 2,000-acre property has two restaurants offering southern and Lowcountry menu items like oyster roasts, whole hog BBQs, and Lowcountry boils. The resort has 20+ miles of nature trails and a spa to explore. Check out some of the other adventures offered:
  • Sports fishing adventure
  • Water safari
  • Daily fitness classes
  • Boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding
  • Biking and hiking
  • Clam harvesting
  • Cheese-making
  • Visiting the Heirloom cattle ranch

The Buy

Lume Acidified Body Wash, which is supposed to remove odor better than soap thanks to its key ingredient: mandelic acid. Choose from scents like clean tangerine or go unscented for sensitive skin types.
