Summer’s unofficially here and Charleston is so ready. From live music and celebrations to hiking and festivals, summer is when the 843 comes alive.
Get ready to get outside with this guide featuring 30+ summer events — including ideas for the Fourth of July — happening between May and August.
🎟️ Festivals
Summer Wine Festival | Saturday, August 26 | 6-10 p.m. | Charleston Harbor Cruise Terminal, 196 Concord St.
There will be 50+ wines, mimosas, seltzers, and a small selection of beers. This venue will offer an air-conditioning indoor option as well as a waterside patio. Tickets include an acrylic wine glass, entertainment, and all wine and beer samples. Food will cost extra.
Festival tickets are $50 in advance, $55 after Aug. 17, and $65 the day of the event.
Calling all TV and film buffs: We rounded up local filming locations for Netflix’s drama series “Outer Banks” and the feature film “The Notebook.”Reminder: Always be respectful of private property.

Summerville pizza spot Antica Napoli Pizzeria announced its last day of service will take place this weekend after more than four years of business. The shop will be open today through this Friday, May 31 from 4 to 9 p.m., closed Saturday, and open for the final day Sunday, June 2 from 12 to 8 p.m. (WCIV)
Travel
Another record. Charleston International Airport officials shared that travel for this year’s Memorial Day weekend was 27 percent higher than last year’s. Nearly 110,000 passengers flew in and out of the airport. Officials said that the two reasons for the growth include the addition of low-cost carriers and long-time airlines. (WCSC)

Wonder Works, a local toy retailer, will return to West Ashley to open its third store in June. The new location will be at 1662 Savannah Hwy., where the former Ellifox Children’s Clothing Store used to operate. Wonder Works has a store in Mt. Pleasant and downtown Charleston. (Holy City Sinner)

Sip, sip, hooray. Indigo Reef Brewing is celebrating its fifth anniversary for five days beginning next week, Wednesday, June 5 through Sunday, June 9. The party includes food trucks, live music, beer releases, and a limited edition anniversary glassware for sale.

This year’s Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series kicks off at James Island County Park on Sunday, June 16. The triathlon series includes a 600-yard freshwater swim, a 12-mile bike ride, and a 5K flat run. How to sign up.

Dorchester County’s Library on the Ashley River in Summerville will have its ribbon-cutting ceremony next Tuesday, June 4 at 10 a.m. The new library is a 20,000-sqft space, including a dedicated teen area, computer center, meeting spaces, and private study rooms.

Charleston County is looking to complete its Climate Action Plan and is giving the community a final chance to share feedback.
What is it?
The Charleston County Climate Action Plan is a set of guidelines addressing climate change that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency, advance equity objectives, and increase affordability for households + businesses. The plan would allow the county to use federal funding for various projects.
The plan includes “The Big Moves,” five key focus areas that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions:
Charleston County residents and business owners can give feedback during public comment at an upcoming meeting on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. at 4045 Bridge View Dr. in North Charleston.
