Ready for takeoff — in the aviation industry? Charleston Southern University’s Aeronautics program could be your passport to a booming sector that generates more than $30 billion annually and makes up nearly 7% of the US GDP.

With big names like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Gulfstream located in and around South Carolina, plus the rise of commercial space travel + advanced air mobility, the opportunities for job placement after graduation are plentiful.

Check out CSU’s Aeronautics: Aerospace Management (BS) degree, where students can:
  • Double-major in both aeronautics + business
  • Gain leadership and management skills
  • Study aircraft operations, flight safety, aerodynamics, and more, all while earning their pilot certification
Did you know? Only 5% of Airline Transport Pilot certificate holders were female in 2023, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. At CSU, more than 30% of the Aeronautics Professional Pilot program’s students are women, leading the way in diversity within this field.

Charleston International Airport announced a new community initiative through its CHS Cares program. “Clear the List” is providing local educators with school supplies for the upcoming school year.

To participate, teachers can submit their wish list and provide their school/district email address for verification. Those who aren’t teachers can still participate by nominating their school.

Now through Thursday, Aug. 15, the airport will be randomly selecting wish lists to clear.
