Downtown Charleston has gotten sweeter with a new dessert destination, Gustard’s Custards. The recently opened shop serves frozen custard, including vanilla, chocolate, seasonally flavored soft serve, and toppings. Follow along on Instagram.

Speaking of brunch, one of downtown Charleston’s newest restaurants, The Select, will start a Sunday brunch service beginning on Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Menu highlights include the Enormous Cinnamon Roll, Short Rib Hash, a Lobster Roll, and various flavors of mimosas. Make your reservation.

Charleston County School District is back in session, and this school year, the district has some changes, including bus routes, health and safety protocols, and new developments + projects on the horizon. See details. (WCSC)

Charleston International Airport’s Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Grill is scheduled to close later this year. It will be replaced by a new restaurant from locally-based celebrity chef Kardea Brown, host of Food Network’s “Delicious Miss Brown.” Construction is set to begin in 2025. (The Post and Courier)

Next month, Mount Pleasant Towne Centre will bring back its SWEAT Fitness Series in partnership with Athleta. Every Wednesday in September at 6 p.m., head to The Oaks at Towne Centre for a free fitness class led by a local expert. No registration is required — just bring a yoga mat and water. See the lineup.

From 6 to 8 p.m. at Hank’s Social Hall, Holy City Swing instructors will teach two dance styles: The Lindy Hop and The Charleston. Whether you’re a dance pro, have no prior experience, or somewhere in between — this event welcomes everyone.
