All aboard. An old, mostly unoccupied railroad and highway corridor that stretches from Mount Pleasant Street to Marion Square is set to soon be transformed into a new park system, The Lowcountry Lowline.
The project will have three districts that offer a space for pedestrians and bicyclists, recreational space, and green space.
City officials recently met with leaders of the PATH Foundation (who helped with the Atlanta Beltline project). The team viewed the site, rode along the corridor, shared insights, and discussed plans.
The project, which has been in the works for years, is set to begin construction next year — but how did we get here? Take a look back at our past coverage.
