Ready to get groovy, Charleston?Record Store Day is tomorrow, April 12, and we’re turning the tables on how you listen to music.
Unplug the aux cord and dust off your dad’s old record player. We’ve rounded up four local shops that are well-stocked and in tune with your musical needs for Record Store Day.
Gray Cat Music | This North Charleston spot is opening at 8 a.m., with a selection of limited-edition RSD releases based on customer buzz. Early birds in line will be entered into raffle giveaways, and shoppers can score multiple discounts.
Black Circle Records | In partnership with Public Works Art Center and 360Clean, this Summerville shop is hosting a sustainability-themed Record Store Day celebration. Expect DJ sets, secondhand vinyl, art supplies, and racks of pre-loved fashion. The first 150 attendees get a free reusable tote, and raffles include rare vinyl and local artwork.

Charleston County Council has approved a multi-million dollar project to create bike and pedestrian access to Johns Island’s Limehouse Bridge. While a project timeline hasn’t been announced, construction crews are expected to be in the area soon. The goal is to complete the project within four years. (WCIV)

It’s time to shop locally. Some popular farmers markets are back in action this month. The Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square begins tomorrow, April 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The West Ashley Farmers Market will return on Wednesday, April 23, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Ackerman Park.

Bread lovers knead to know this — Grit Bakery is coming soon to Meeting Street near The Archer. The Scandinavian-inspired bakery will feature a small seating area and offer sourdough bread, baguettes, croissants, danishes, and a small coffee program. The team is aiming to open next month. The Food & Wine Classic Charleston will return for its second year from Friday, Nov. 14, through Sunday, Nov. 16. This culinary event will include a variety of programming and national talents like Tyler Florence and Emeril and EJ Lagasse, alongside local favorites such as Mike Latta and Carrie Morey. Tickets go on sale Thursday, May 15.
