After last week’s ribbon cutting , the City of North Charleston is ready to debut its new sports complex.

The North Charleston Sports Complex at 1455 Monitor St., is now officially open in its entirety beginning today, April 1, after certain outdoor facilities opened last Friday.

The $25 million sports complex replaced the former Danny Jones Recreation Center and has many features and amenities .

Highlights of the complex:

  • 25-meter competitive pool to complement the North Charleston Aquatic Center in Dorchester County
  • Multi-use gymnasium for basketball, volleyball + badminton
  • Five tennis courts that meet the United States Tennis Association standards
  • A roller rink for street hockey and roller skating
  • Multi-purpose field
  • A walking trail

The facility will be free to use for the community, with the exception of a fee for the pool.

It signifies our ongoing effort to ensure that North Charleston remains a place where community and health go hand in hand.”

Its regular operating hours:

Monday-Thursday: 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
Friday- Saturday: 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
Sunday: Closed
