Raise Renovate the roof. The Charleston Place
is mapping out plans to upgrade the world-renowned and Condé Nast
ranked hotel. The changes will take place in two to three phases so construction does not disrupt hotel operations.
The first phase is moving forward after the City of Charleston’s Board of Architectural Review (BAR) okayed preliminary and final approval last month (the board approved conceptual plans last year).
The current fitness center is set to be related while changes are being made.

What’s changing?

- Rooftop bar
- Cupolas
The fourth floor’s current outdoor space and fitness center will be transformed into a private + luxe area. The space will include an updated rooftop bar, terrace, and lounge area featuring cupolas. Renderings show a robust landscaping design that gives the space a garden feel. While these changes are underway, the fitness center will be temporarily relocated.
Stay up to date with projects across the city and attend a BAR meeting . The group is made up of two sections BAR-Large (BAR-L) which tackles large projects and meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. BAR-Small (BAR-S) is for smaller projects and they meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month.
