Head over to this Eastern European cafe + bakery for a selection of fish, canned goods, spices, and deli meat, plus prepped foods like borscht and pierogies. Shoutout to readers Yulia G. and Flora R. for the tip.
H&L Asian Market , 5300 Rivers Ave., North Charleston
Enjoy a variety of fresh produce, frozen goods, meat, and fish from the market, plus dry and canned goods. If you’re not on the hunt for ingredients, grab a bite from the in-store restaurant: Pho No. 1.
India Spice , 1694 Old Towne Rd.
This grocer is your one-stop shop for spices, basmati rice, lentils, and naan bread. Bonus: It even offers snacks + cookbooks. Hey, we’re no Rodney Scott, so count us in.
Saffron Restaurant & Bakery , 333 E. Bay St.
Spoiler alert: City Editor Lexa’s family has been visiting Saffron for years to grab foul mudammas for Sunday morning breakfast. The shop offers salads, soups, small plates, breakfast dishes, and baked goods, plus canned + other goods — the cookies are to die for.
Camme’s International Food and Grocery , 4501 Dorsey Ave., North Charleston
DYK Camme’s has been serving the Lowcountry for 20 years? We’ll cheers to that. The store doubles as an international grocery store + Caribbean restaurant — and the jerk chicken is calling our names.
El Molino Supermarket , 1610 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Ste. 301
The supermarket recently shared this photo of Baileys-filled chocolates + it’s safe to say our interest has been piqued. If that’s not really your thing, these baked goods look pretty heavenly.
