We love the space and don’t forget about the outdoor rooftop.

Last week, City Editor Erika previewed the new happenings at Élevé , the rooftop + lounge on top of the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston at 55 Wentworth St. The space has a new concept with a new chef and menu.

Mahdi Naim is now the Executive Chef with a background in leading fine dining kitchens in New York City, Hong Kong, and Amman. Born in Jordan, Chef Mahdi was drawn to Charleston by its “beautiful charm, rich culinary history, and friendly people.” He moved to the Holy City in 2022. City Editor Erika got the chance to meet the man behind the new dishes.

The smell of freshly baked bread, thyme, and olive oil was a constant in Chef Naim’s home growing up.

The new culinary offerings include:

  • East coast oysters
  • Yellowfin tuna
  • Scallop carpaccio
  • Amberjack crudo
  • Octopus
  • Beef tartare
  • Fall burrata
  • Pan-seared market catch
  • Braised wagyu short rib
  • Lamb bolognese
  • Basque cheesecake
  • Blackberry tart

City Editor Erika enjoyed the new concept and the pairings with fun cocktails and wine. You can check out the rest of the menu and reserve your spot now.

It was hard to choose a favorite dish, but we’re going to have to go with the lamb bolognese.
