Hotel Emeline showcasing local Black Artists

The downtown hotel announced programming to celebrate the opening of the International African American Museum.

Hotel Emeline has announced special programming and workshops from June 30 through July 2 featuring local Black artists to celebrate the opening of the International African American Museum.

Programming includes various poetry events hosted by Marcus Amaker, Charleston’s first Poet Laureate and current Poet Laureate, A$iahMae. Gullah vocalist Ann Caldwald will also perform “Journey of Return.” These events are free and open to the public.

Timeline of events:

  • June 30 | 7-9 p.m. | Marcus Amaker and A$iahMae Poetry Ready at Clerks Coffee Co.
  • July 1 | 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. | Marcus Amaker Book Signing in Emeline’s Lobby
  • July 1 | 5-6 p.m. | Marcus Amaker Poetry Workshop in The Archives
  • July 2 | 5-6 p.m | Ann Caldwald’s performance in Frannie & The Fox’s Courtyard
