$6.5 million. The total cost of the Mega Boat Landing Project on Lake Moultrie that Berkeley County —in partnership with Santee Cooper — announced in Moncks Corner (~50 minutes from Charleston). Fun fact: The site was previously the Atkins Boat Landing-Lions Beach site at the end of Broughton Road.

What are the renovation and expansion improvements of this 14-acre project?

  • 6 new boat launch ramps + a dock protected by a new breakwater
  • Event pavilion
  • Walking trail
  • ~180 boat trailer parking spaces
  • ~180 passenger vehicle spaces
  • Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office outpost dock

It’s being funded from a 75% matching grant from the state + SC water recreation funds and the Berkeley County Accommodations Fee. Santee Cooper also has provided a long-term gratis lease to the county for the project.

The project is expected to be finished by fall of 2022.
