The South Carolina Aquarium announced a new event to support the sea turtles, and it’s going to be one shell of a good time, Charleston.
Sea Life by Starlight will transform the Aquarium into a colorful, festive gala to raise funds for the Sea Turtle Care Center™, which rescues and rehabilitates injured and sick sea turtles along the SC coast.

When: Sat., December 10 from 8-11 p.m.
Where: South Carolina Aquarium
What: Full bar, light bites + dessert, silent auction and dancing
Tickets: $95 for general admission; $85 for aquarium members; $135 for VIP (limited space available)

Halo, a sandwich + coffee shop in the MUSC community downtown, was sold toCaviar & Bananas. As of this Fri., Oct. 28, the shop will no longer be open after 12 years of serving the Lowcountry and the location will be undergoing renovations. Read the full announcement. Halo’s coffee and muffins will be missed.

On Tues., Oct. 11,Charleston County passed an ordinancelimiting the number of impervious surfaces in new housing in unincorporated areas of the county, which do not have a local government. These surfaces can include driveways and parking lots. The ordinance aims to address flooding. 🏘️ (The Post and Courier)

A $70 million investment is coming to Dorchester County. Arcadia Cold Storage & Logistics plans to establish operations at Ridgeville Industrial Campus, which could create 69 new jobs. This Fri., Oct. 28, The Alley will transform into the carnival of your nightmares. This restaurant and bar is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the annual Studio 300: Haunted Carnival. A local clothing store has moved locations. Last week, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of Simply J Boutique at The Bend at Carolina Park in Mount Pleasant. Environment
The birds are back in town. The Town of Mount Pleasant is marking one yearsince the redevelopment of Crab Bank, a bird sanctuary near Shem Creek. The S.C. Historical Society will hold its Fall Tour 2022 on Sat., Nov. 12 showcasing a variety of architecturally + historically significant churches in downtown Charleston. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests will explore iconic spots including the French Protestant Huguenot Church and St. Michael’s Church on this self-guided tour.

It’s tee time. Lowcountry Autism Foundation’s Live LAF Love 2nd Annual Golf Tournament is set for Mon., Nov. 14.
