Recently we received some feedback about how some of our readers are into antiquing and were curious about some spots around town. No new stuff here — we’ve rounded up some vintage finds in and around Charleston where old things can find a new home.

Terrace Oaks Antique Mall, 2037 Maybank Hwy. | Open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • This is Charleston’s first antique mall and is located about ten minutes from downtown. The mall has 60 dealers with 90 booths, and there is something for everyone.
Architectural Antiques & Design, 1011 St. Andrews Blvd. A | Open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Looking for unique doors, windows, mantles, or columns? Located in West Ashley, this vintage architectural paradise is a “4000 sqft warehouse of possibilities” with an acre of antique iron, building salvage + cast iron for your garden.

  • Over 40 vendors encompass this antique mall with various collections + multiple local artisans. Find your next piece in this eclectic mix.
David Skinner Antiques, 19 Warren St. | Open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • For nearly 30 years, this shop has curated a selection of period lighting and Caribbean, American + European furniture.

News Notes
Closing
  • Coney Island Park Circle, located at 4258 Spruill Ave. in North Charleston, announced its closing due to pandemic-related issues. Stop by the neighborhood restaurant before its last day of operation on Saturday, Aug. 19, and try menu items like the Coney Dog, the Smash Burger + Chili.
Opening
  • A new coffee shop will open next month at Coterie, the Indian eatery at 17 Warren St. Idle Hands Coffee House plans to open Monday, Sept. 18, and will operate on the patio with indoor seating available. Guests can expect a full espresso menu + flights with Nitro Masala Chai and assorted pastries. The cafe will be open daily from 7:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. Follow along on Instagram.

  • The Charleston Gospel Choir will host auditions for its upcoming season on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at 342 Meeting St. Participants will be asked to prepare a solo of their choosing + vocalize in a choral setting. Those interested should contact the group’s email.
Festival
  • The Summer Wine Festival is back at the Charleston Harbor Cruise Terminal on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets for this 21+ event include beverage tastings with 50+ wine selections, mimosas, and beer. Guests can also expect food for purchase + live music. Tickets are $50 but will increase soon.
Arts
  • Palmetto City Ballet announced its upcoming performance season with three shows including “Fright Night at the Ballet,” “The Nutcracker,” and “The Wizard of Oz” at the Sottile Theatre at the College of Charleston. Tickets are available starting Wednesday, Aug. 16.
