Thanksgiving is next week, but we can’t help but get excited for Christmas — plus, there’s no shame in planning ahead. Read on for some holiday pop-ups around town, and check back to this list because City Editor Erika will continue to add more. Need to put one on our radar?Email the team.
Upstairs at Harold’s Cabin will soon become a winter wonderland filled with nostalgia for a “snowy Christmas at the Cabin.” The centerpiece will be an upside-down Christmas tree filled with snowflakes and iridescent tinsel. The team has also prepared dishes and cocktails perfect for this holiday season. Pro tip: We heard the team began the process for the fermented eggnog months ago and and has been perfecting the recipe since summer.
The hotel’s Little Palm bar and restaurant will transform into Little Pine, offering individuals in Charleston an après ski experience. The menu will have seasonal food and cocktails with the coziness of a ski lodge.

Progress Preview: Construction begins on Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital expansion
The expansion project is on track to be finished in 2026 and will make the hospital the third largest of the four-hospital healthcare system. | Rederings provided by Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital
Less than four years after welcoming its first patients, Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital in Summerville has embarked on a construction plan to double in size, in keeping with the growing Lowcountry community.
The facility at 100 Callen Blvd. opened in 2019, offering a full-service hospital in Berkeley County for the first time in 45 years.
Late this spring, the project got underway to expand Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital from 50 to 100 beds and to add 200,000 sqft of new or renovated space to the existing 116,000-sqft facility.
Among the hospital’s current full complement of services are:
A 24-hour emergency department
Imaging and lab services
An intensive-care unit
The hospital features 16 rooms for mothers and newborn babies, along with four operating rooms.
The next stage of the project will include an official groundbreaking, followed by the pouring of the foundations for the new buildings.

Civic
There will be a change-up when it comes to restaurant inspections next year. The State Department of Agriculture will take over some of the health department’s responsibilities. SCDA will oversee restaurant inspections, school cafeterias and inspect manufactured foods + drinks. (WCBD)
Cause
Holy City Missions broke ground on a new facility, which it says will help expand the services for those who need a helping hand. Currently, the group runs a warming shelter, soup kitchen, food bank, and clothing closet. Construction is underway at 1729 Remount Rd. in North Charleston. (WCIV)
Sports
The Charleston Battery ended the season as Eastern Conference Winners and USL Championship Finalists. The Championship match came down to the wire with a penalty kick shootout, the Battery fell 2-3 to Phoneix Rising FC.
