Ready to get your grub on? Restaurant Week is back. The 11-day culinary event runs today, Jan. 11-Sunday, Jan. 21.
For a refresher, Restaurant Week is an opportunity to try something new or indulge in favorites at a lower price. From casual spots to fine dining, there are dozens of participating restaurants in the Charleston area.
Here are a few highlights, from inland towns to coastal communities and everything in-between.

Downtown
Church and Union | Dinner: Three courses for $50+ | The beef tartare is chef’s kiss and don’t get us started on the mushroom gnocchi.
Indaco | Dinner: Three courses for $50+ | The Caramelle pasta dish features local clams, roasted red pepper, crispy prosciutto, and lemon... yes, please.
Slightly North of Broad| Dinner: Three courses for $60+ | Do you even live in Charleston if you haven’t tried shrimp and grits? Get to this Lowcountry staple for one of the best versions.

Islander 71 Fish House and Deck Bar | Dinner: Three courses for $45+ | Bettie Jane’s Crab Cakes sound wonderful and the Banana Puddin’ is a must.
Mount Pleasant
The Mill Street Tavern| Dinner: Four courses for $44+ | Enjoy sushi, seafood, and southern classics with the beautiful Shem Creek views.
West Ashley
Ms. Rose’s Fine Foods + Cocktails | Lunch: $15 and a drink | Dinner: Three courses for $40+ | Talk about a bargain — the lunch menu includes a drink, too.
Summerville
Halls Chophouse Nexton | Dinner: Three courses for $65+ | Pro tip: if you order the filet, add the black truffle butter — it’s so worth it.
Daniel Island
The Kingstide | Dinner: Three courses for $60+ | This menu has our mouths watering. How do you pick among calamari, Oysters Rockefeller, or the mussels? Oh my.
Don Sazon Empanadas + Music Bingo | Thursday, Jan. 11 | 5-8:30 p.m. | Snafu Brewing Company, 3280 Industry Dr., North Charleston | Price of purchase | Get ready for beats, brews, and bingo — plus, enjoy treats from Don Sazon Empanadas.
Friday, Jan. 12
Lighthouse Inlet Bird Walk | Friday, Jan. 12 | 8:30-10:30 a.m. | Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve, 1750 E. Ashley Ave., Folly Beach | $9 | Join the walk to explore the northeast end of Folly Island + learn about a site that’s the leader in the number of bird species seen in SC.
Saturday, Jan. 13
Off-Road Duathlon | Saturday, Jan. 13 | 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | Laurel Hill County Park, 1400 SC-41, Mount Pleasant | $55 | Those who are registered will run and bike for a total of 11 miles.
Yoga in Waterfront Park | Saturday, Jan. 13 | 9:30-10:15 a.m. | Free | Waterfront Park Daniel Island, 101 River Landing Dr., Charleston | All levels are welcome to join the slow flow — after yoga, you can explore a local vendors market.
Elderberry Syrup Class | Saturday, Jan. 13 | 9:30-11:30 a.m. | Fresh Future Farm, 2008 Success St., North Charleston | $45 | Visit the urban farm and grocery store and learn to make elderberry syrup with local ingredients.
Sunday, Jan. 14
SC Stingrays vs. Jacksonville Icemen | Sunday, Jan. 14 | 2:05 p.m. | North Charleston Coliseum, 5001 Coliseum Dr., North Charleston | $19+ | This game is geared toward the youngest Rays fans, there will be family-fun activities all game long.
A contract has been awarded to Gator Dredging for the Folly Beach renourishment project. The $18 million project is being funded by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The project aims to repair damage from past hurricanes, dredge the Folly River, and prevent erosion on Bird Key. Construction is set to begin in the coming months. (WCBD)
Charlestonian
On your mark, get set, go… meet Murlern Jean. She’s a Mount Pleasant school resource officer who’s training to compete in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Representing Haiti, Jean competed in the 2016 + 2021 Summer Olympics in the 100-meter hurdles. (WCIV)
Opening
Several new restaurants have plans to open this year, including two bagel shops. Spread Bagelry is set to open its second Lowcountry location at Hoffler Place (downtown near King and Spring Streets). Ruby’s New York Style Bagels will also open its fourth location at Carolina Park in Mount Pleasant. (The Post and Courier)

Know someone looking for a summer job? The 2023 Carolina League Champions are hiring. This Saturday, Jan. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Charleston RiverDogs are hosting a job fair at The Joe. Several part-time and seasonal positions will be available for the 66 home games. (Holy City Sinner)

The show room
This venue offers more than 20,000 sqft of space and the cars are included (to clarify, they’re just for looks). Formula 1, classic + luxury cars are stacked and displayed around the show room, ideal for car lovers looking to host a cocktail party, rehearsal dinner, birthday party, or any larger event.
The luxury lounge
This 3,000 sqft space is ideal for small-scale events like lectures, dinners, and cocktail parties.
