A new family adventure park is coming to the Lowcountry. Adrenaline Monkey is scheduled to open in June at 4950 Centre Pointe Dr., Ste. 100, across from the Tanger Outlets Mall.

The facility will have adventure zones for all ages and abilities and space for events. Think: birthdays, corporate events, fundraisers, field trips, and team building.

Other features:
  • Ninja warrior obstacle course with fog and buzzers
  • Mega boulder wall
  • Slides
  • Arcade

This concept began in June 2018 in Cleveland, OH, after founder Denise Carkhuff’s twin daughters watched the American Ninja Warrior television program and desired a space where their community could be like the contestants.

“Adrenaline Monkey is not only for children, but for anyone willing to emancipate their wild child on approachable adventures,” says Carkhuff.

Johns Island resident Jamie Haggerty (who was the former general manager at the original location) lobbied for Adrenaline Monkey to expand to the Charleston area and will now serve as a corporate manager. This will be the facility’s fourth location.

The City of Charleston, in partnership with Charleston Wine + Food, will host its second annual Wine + Food Street Fest on Thursday, March 7, from 6-8 p.m. This celebration is free and family-friendly.

Three blocks of upper King Street north of Ann Street will be transformed into a pedestrian-only celebration, think: block party. Food, beverages, arts and crafts will be available for purchase, plus attendees can enjoy tunes from DJ Illadell and a marching band.

New additions this year:

Charleston Wine + Food will have a special ticketed tasting experience with the Black Expo. Attendees can explore the Black Expo’s Wine and Spirits Tasting Garden — a curated selection of wine and liquors from Black-owned brands and makers. Tickets start at $25.

Kulture City will be onsite to help individuals with sensory needs enjoy this live event.

Happy Monday, I hope everyone had a great weekend.

I came across this really cool fact. Did you know that Oprah Winfrey ran the Cooper River Bridge Run in 1994 under the pseudonym Francesca Kincaid? Check out this throwback.
