Charleston, we’ve got the deets on The Charles coming to the Harleston Village downtown next year.
What is it?
The Charles will be a new community next to The Jasper Apartments at the corner of Broad and Barre Streets. It will feature luxury waterfront townhomes and apartment flats with views of the Ashley River and the Safe Harbor City Marina.
The 15 three-story townhomes and eight flats will offer two-and three-bedroom floor plans. They will feature street-level entries with wrought-iron gates.
Other amenities
Each townhome will have a private balcony, a gated yard, and a two-car parking garage. The property will include a half-acre park with an open green space.
The Charles will also include access to amenities at The Jasper, like the rooftop pool, fitness center, and a demonstration kitchen with a catering prep space for private events.
Here is a closer look at the features of The Charles.
The Beach Company, a Charleston-based real estate developer, recently broke ground on the project. Antunovich Associates, a design leader in historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects, will design The Charles.
DesignWorks, Forseberg Engineering, and Balfour Beatty are other design, engineering, and contracting partners. First Bank is providing the project’s construction financing.
“Demand for our Jasper residences on Broad Street has outpaced availability since opening in 2021,” says Dan Doyle, COO of The Beach Company. “The Charles’ design resonates with a passion for the city’s historic architecture while embracing its cosmopolitan present, making for a remarkable addition to the surrounding neighborhoods and western gateway into the historic district.”
What’s the timeline?
The Charles is expected to be completed in the summer of 2025.
