After a 19-year run, Joe Miller, Director of Choral Activities at Spoleto Festival USA, will pass the torch in June. Miller has accepted a new position as Music Director at Vocal Arts Ensemble Cincinnati. The 49th annual festival will celebrate Miller’s legacy in several special programs.
Environment
Following a Charleston County Council vote, Lowcountry Land Trust now has more than $4.8 million of Greenbelt funding headed its way. The funds will go towards protecting the ecological, cultural, and recreational heritage of three Johns Island properties: Oscar’s Place, Grayson Oaks, and Main Road Park.
Traffic
Next month, expect road closures aroundthe Palmetto Commerce Interchange project. Closures on Blue House Road and Weber Boulevard are scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 1 through Monday, Dec. 16. The project is set to be finished in early 2026. (WCSC)

Get a new perspective on World War II history at Fort Moultrie National Historical Park this weekend. The early bird gets the worm. The 48th Annual Cooper River Bridge Run isn’t until Saturday, April 5, but registering this month can save some money. Now through Saturday, Nov. 30, participants can register for the run for $55. The price increases steadily to $70 this spring. (WCIV)

Tomorrow, Nov. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., The Fly & Lure, a local luxury fly fishing shop, is hosting an all-skill levels event that aims to teach participants the techniques of tying flies. Tickets are $20 and include everything you need to tie a fly and beer.
