“Charleston is my home, and I am so proud to bring a piece of it to the airport,” Brown shared in a press release. | Photo provided by the Charleston International Airport
There’s a new dining option at Charleston International Airport, and it’s bringing big hometown flavor. Charleston native and celebrity chef Kardea Brown — best known for her Food Network show “Delicious Miss Brown” — has opened Kardea Brown’s Southern Kitchen in the airport’s Central Hall.
The menu highlights traditional Lowcountry + Gullah dishes like shrimp and grits, Brown’s signature mac and cheese, and a cheesy crab dip. Whether you’re just arriving in the Holy City or heading out, travelers can now enjoy a true taste of Charleston right at the terminal.
Brown, who spent much of her childhood on Wadmalaw Island, credits her grandmother for introducing her to Gullah cuisine. In a nod to her roots, you’ll even find her grandmother’s handheld mixer from the early 1970s on display.
With Kardea Brown’s Southern Kitchen as the newest addition to CHS, scroll down for a refresher on the other food and drink options available at the airport.
