“Charleston is my home, and I am so proud to bring a piece of it to the airport,” Brown shared in a press release.

There’s a new dining option at Charleston International Airport, and it’s bringing big hometown flavor. Charleston native and celebrity chef Kardea Brown — best known for her Food Network show “Delicious Miss Brown” — has opened Kardea Brown’s Southern Kitchen in the airport’s Central Hall, formerly home to Jack Nicklaus’ Golden Bear Grill.

The menu highlights traditional Lowcountry and Gullah dishes like shrimp and grits, Brown’s signature mac and cheese, and a cheesy crab dip. Whether you’re just arriving in the Holy City or heading out, travelers can now enjoy a true taste of Charleston right at the terminal.

Brown, who spent much of her childhood on Wadmalaw Island, credits her grandmother for introducing her to Gullah cuisine. In a nod to her roots, you’ll even find her grandmother’s handheld mixer from the early 1970s on display.

Fun facts: Brown is also the co-host of Kids Baking Championship and a New York Times best-selling author. Her second cookbook, “Make Do With What You Have,” is set to release this November.
