How do you follow a record-setting year? By getting stronger.

Take Pacaso. Their real estate co-ownership tech set records in Paris and London in 2024. No surprise. Coldwell Banker says 40% of wealthy Americans plan to buy abroad within a year, so Pacaso’s planned Italy expansion is big.

They’ve already made $110 million+ in gross profits to date, including 41% YoY growth last year. (They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.) And you can invest for $2.90/share.

News Notes

Number

$24 million. That’s how much the US Department of Transportation has awarded nearby Dorchester County for US Highway 78 Phase 3A. The project will widen the highway to five lanes — from Orangeburg Road to North Maple Street — and enhance traffic flow with intersection improvements.

Biz

Kultura, a Spring Street staple led by James Beard Award Finalist Chef Nikko Cagalanan, has announced it will be moving locations in October. While the Filipino eatery gets the new space on Rutledge Avenue ready, don’t worry — you can still get your fix + try the Jollybee pasta.

Award

Holy smokes, 12 South Carolina-based breweries recently won awards in the 2025 US Open Beer Championship. The Lowcountry is rising up as Holy City Brewing received a silver medal for its Pluff Mud Porter + a bronze for the Painkiller brew. See which other South Carolina breweries made it big.

Mansion Monday

A generational Lowcountry estate has hit the market for only the second time in over a century. The 28-acre property features a newly built 4-bedroom + 3-bathroom home, a pond, dock, and so much more. We’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Outdoors

Volunteers are needed to join Lowcountry Land Trust for an Angel Oak Preserve cleanup on Wednesday, July 30. From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., helping hands will clean up the trails + get a sneak peek of future trails planned. RSVP online.

Edu

The City of Charleston is gearing up for its annual First Day Festival on Sunday, Aug. 10. Residents can drop off school supplies (think: composition + spiral notebooks, craft materials, pencils, etc.) at these donation sites. Supplies will be given out to students at the festival.

Mailbag

Reader Christine M. wants to remind the Holy City that “King Bean has a new shop at their roastery.” This North Charleston spot can be your one-stop shop for your favorite beans + your daily dose, whether you’re on the go or want to sit for a while.

Life is jolly when you head to Folly. | Photo by CHStoday
The countdown to the end of summer break is here. Make the most of those dog days in the sun by taking the kiddos to some pools + beaches around Charleston.

Splash Island Waterpark
Kids can splash around sprays, geysers, and raindrop waterfalls, plus slides for the older kids.

Daniel Island Waterfront Park
This waterfront park is located just off the Wando River and features a playground, hiking + walking trails along the riverfront, hammocks, and a fishing pier.

Folly Beach
Frolic at this family-friendly beach and enjoy a picnic lunch, beach games, and boogie boarding. There’s plenty of live music happening this week.

Isle of Palms
Pack your sunscreen and explore seven miles of beaches — we recommend stopping by the Wild Dunes Club on Saturday, Aug. 9 for a pool party inspired by “The Girl Who Built a Spider.”

Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark
The Big Kahuna wave pool and giant slides will be a surefire draw for the bigger kids while the younger ones can enjoy the Big Splash Tree House.
