On Tuesday, the Charleston City Council approved a proposal for MUSC development projects that would waive some of the city’s zoning restrictions. The move would allow 17 properties to be demolished without approval from the city’s Board of Architectural Review, increase new construction height limitations in some areas, and change some parking restrictions. Trident Medical Center will break ground on the first Johns Island emergency room today. This 11-room facility, located on Maybank Highway, will give ~28,000 residents access to care, and there will also be a trauma room and an in-house diagnostics lab. The project is set to be completed in 11 months. (WCBD)

To mark these milestones, the Ridgeville plant is set to increase production, introduce new vehicles, and double the number of jobs. Take a look at “Charleston Splendor,” the Featured Painting, which portrays a peaceful scene of a white heron perched in a Lowcountry marsh.
