Reminder: Don’t drive or walk through flooded streets.

Charleston is expecting some flooding despite little to no rain forecasted. But how? It’s those king tides we talked about earlier this week, plus a storm system churning off the coast, that could cause the high waters to rise even higher.
The worst flooding is expected this morning and Friday morning.
Move vehicles from low-lying areas and take advantage of free parking today at 7 a.m. through Friday at 4 p.m. (Charleston Tech Center Garage and 99 WestEdge Garage).
Note: When leaving the garage, press the call button and tell the operator you are taking advantage of free storm parking.
The city will not deploy its portable pumps, which are used during rain events. They aren’t effective during tidal flooding because the water has nowhere to drain until the tides recede.
