If you’re planning to join thousands of people in Folly Beach at this weekend’s Taste of Folly, here are a few key pieces of info to make the most of the foodie extravaganza:
  • The main event will take over Center Street on Saturday, Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., showcasing the best in local food, drink, art, and vendors.
  • There are also competitions taking place throughout the day, including hot dog eating, oyster shucking, and a one pot showdown.
  • Tickets are $10 in advance, and $15 on the day.
One final tip: Plenty of car traffic is expected in the area, so we recommend booking a ride-share, carpooling, or making a firm plan for parking before heading to the event.

Happy National Bagel Day, Charleston. Since 17th century Poland, the circular snack has been pleasing taste buds across the globe, and providing the perfect start to the day.

Speaking of the perfect start to the day, a spot of brunch never goes amiss. Here are a few of our favorites:

Holey City Bagels
Stop by this downtown shop for a quick + convenient breakfast bagel and coffee. City Editor Callie recommends the sausage, egg, and cheese on an asiago bagel, with a vanilla cold brew.

Ruby’s Bagels
This spot is perfect for a brunch on the go + often features specialty bagels and drinks each season.

Lost Dog Cafe
Hang out on the porch with your pup while you snack on a bagel sandwich.

The Wrap

People are posting photos of themselves from 2016 all over social media in the latest nostalgic trend. Some of Charleston’s old favorite, now-shuttered businesses were still open at the time.

I thought I’d hop on the bandwagon. Here’s one of my mother and I from a family trip to Spain. I’m the one on the right.
Two people smiling and looking at the camera, sat in white chairs.
