Have you felt one? We’re talking earthquakes — the Lowcountry reported its third minor quake in fewer than seven days. All three shook Dorchester County; the latest was yesterday at 4:10 a.m. (WCSC)
Closing
We’ll be experiencing heartbreak this Valentine’s Day, because it’s the last day of operation for the North Charleston Fire Museum. The iconic spot’s artifacts will be reclaimed by private collectors. Until its closing, admission will be free.
Plan Ahead
It’s time to raise a glass. Honeysuckle Rose will host award-winning Napa Valley winemaker Steve Matthiasson on Thursday, Feb. 26, for a six-course pairing experience. (Holy City Sinner)
Real Estate
Good things come in small packages, just like this historic downtown condo. The petite one-bed, one-bath 397-sqft home is located on Pitt Street and features a spacious bathroom, a deeded parking spot, and original hardwood floors.
Stay tuned. Later this week, we’ll share local spots offering special menus or events during SEWE.
Announced
Are you ready for some football, a little closer to home? The ApexPro Football League will launch the Seawolves, a Charleston-based team, in the spring of 2027, and the team will play at Johnson Hagood Stadium. The new league has four teams and plans to grow to more cities without NFL teams.
Community
There’s a new spot to play. The Town of Mount Pleasant officially opened Cario Baseball Field. The artificial turf field is complete with dugouts, sports lighting, and restrooms. (WCBD)

Whether you’re bird-spotting on your beach walks, watching your backyard feeder, or enjoy visiting Awendaw’s Center for Birds of Prey, here’s a guide to help spot our local feathered friends — from land to marsh and everywhere in between.
Join the experts
Charleston County Parks has an extensive birding program and several regular events you can join to learn about the local species.
Early Morning Bird Walks | Head to the Caw Caw Interpretive Center and explore a variety of birds, butterflies, and other organisms. Pro tip: The route is a flat loop, and benches are available along the trail. The trails are unpaved.
Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve Bird Walks | Focused on the Northeast end of Folly Island, this walk explores protected maritime forest, beach, dune, and marsh wildlife habitats. Fun Fact: This site is a leader in the number of bird species seen in the Palmetto State.
Growing up comes with plenty of firsts. With a Cash App Card, teens have a safe way to practice saving, managing money, and spending — all with their own debit card, and you as their guide.‡
Also, not to flex, but if backyard birding were a competition, I’d definitely win. Check out one of my frequent visitors.
