🚧 Hanahan’s next chapter
The development’s name was inspired by the longtime Blackwells Hardware. | Photo by Paul Cheney
We’re getting our first look at Blackwells Corner, a new mixed-use development coming to downtown Hanahan, a fast-growing suburb just minutes from the peninsula.
The 40,000-sqft community is designed to be a walkable hub that blends dining, shopping, business, and social opportunities. Fun fact: the plans are guided by resident survey feedback and aligned with the City of Hanahan’s long-term vision to revitalize downtown.
Six new buildings will join the existing TideLine Aquatics storefront, all connected by a central event lawn and outdoor dining areas that will host community events.
Wondering where the name came from? It was inspired by the legacy of the original Blackwells Hardware, a beloved family-owned store that operated on the site for over 75 years before closing in 2025.
Groundbreaking is set for this summer, with a projected grand opening in fall 2027.
