A private island on Johns Island recently sold for $7.5 million that’s some serious dough. The property was listed by Lyles Geer with William Means Real Estate + the buyer was represented by Robertson Allen with The Cassina Group .

Hoopstick Island is a gated 55-acre isle on Bohicket Creek, located just 25 minutes from downtown Charleston. The former horse farm was the last remaining private island of its kind.

The land is located right across from the 987-acre Bugby Plantation with over a mile of waterfront views and 169 historic trees including live oak, gum, and pecan. As of 2016, the property featured four hay fields, a caretaker house, and an original wrought iron gate that we want to drive through.

Hoopstick Island is zoned for up to 10 luxury homes on deepwater lots with a dock permit for each. Fingers crossed this island gets an Airbnb.

This sale kicks off a new year for William Means, which had its best year yet in 2021 with ~$420 million in sales. The company recently moved into its new Mt. Pleasant headquarters at 353 N. Shelmore Blvd. and will open its second office at 25 Broad St. when construction is completed in early 2022.
