A couple of months ago, we shared the scoop on wine in South Carolina. To recap, our state has produced ~77,842 gallons of wine just this year, and boasts 54 wineries. That’s a lot of grapes. So, it’s no surprise that Charlestonians do their fair share of wine drinking.
Luckily, we have year-round access to wonderful wine bars like Graft Wine Shop + Uncork Charleston , both on King Street, world-famous frosé from The Co-Op , and wine tours at Deep Water Vineyard on Wadmalaw Island.
But there’s nothing quite like a full-day celebration of the fruit of the vine. Each season, the folks at Charleston Wine Festivals host a wine celebration. And the time has come for the Summer Wine Festival .
Set to be held on Sat., Aug. 27 at the Charleston Harbor Cruise Terminal, the event will feature more than 50 different wines, plus options like White Claw, beer, and mimosas, live music on the patio, and a DJ inside — split into two sessions during the day.
You’ll have the opportunity to sign up for afternoon Session 1 from 12-4 p.m. or evening Session 2 from 6-10 p.m. Tickets include all beer and wine samples, a souvenir acrylic wine glass, and entertainment, but food will cost extra.
Heads up: Drinks will be cut off at 3:45 p.m. for Session 1 and 9:45 p.m. for Session 2.
