Last April, we asked y’all what you would like to see in the new shopping center taking place of the Helping Kids with Cancer Thrift Store in Avondale (835 Savannah Hwy.) – whose lease ended last fall.
The iconic thrift store dates back to the 1950s when it was originally a grocery store called Rodenberg’s, and is due for a facelift.
Under the new name of The Victory , this 10,000 sqft. space will soon be transformed into a dining + shopping center with plenty of parking.

While the timeline has yet to be announced, its developers at Twin Rivers Capital plan to begin construction within a few months.
The new building is designed by Synchronicity , who is also behind Leon’s new patio + various other local projects. The firm’s goal was to continue Avondale’s tradition of welcoming interesting + unique local businesses to the area.

Speaking of interesting, Poke Burri – home of these iconic sushi donuts – is the first tenant to lease space in the center. Twin Rivers hopes to announce more tenants soon.
Meanwhile, the thrift store is currently seeking a new home, but has not found a space yet.
