Asked: What are Charleston’s unofficial landmarks?

Lexa here. 👋 After living in Charleston for (just about) my entire life, I’ve come to find that there are a few unwritten rules that Charlestonians like to follow — things that aren’t quite official Holy City “code,” but more so things that residents just know. Here are a few examples from our readers:

  • “Don’t feed the seagulls!” – @holycityglass
  • “Keep an eye out for the one-way streets” – @charleston_food_spot
  • “When merging on to 17 N. from Coming St. downtown, KEEP moving! Change lanes LATER!” – @eruss28

This leads me to believe that this can’t be the only unspoken trend in the area. I want to hear from y’all: What are the Holy City’s unofficial landmarks? I’m talking about things that you probably won’t see on the postcards but just feel like home.
